What Does Cobb’s Want To Do?
I got to do this show at Cobb’s comedy club tonight. It’s their Wednesday showcase. I did it a couple of times before. Usually comics try to do it and impress the bookers so they can “get past” which means they start giving you work. Well, I failed to impress them enough for that in either of the first tries, but I got the impression they at least enjoyed watching my sets. Now, both of those sets before tonight were ones where I didn’t ask WDYGWD, and they still didn’t want to book me. So that was one of the things where I was just like, you know what, it doesn’t matter. I should just do it how I want. So I got bold and I emailed them and asked if I could come down and ask the crowd what they wanted to do. To my surprise, they said I could!
So I went down and did it. Seemed like the crowd wasn’t really together. It was a big crowd, but they were sort of scattered around, both in terms of physical location, and in mentality. I asked what they wanted to do, and it took a few seconds before finally someone said laugh. So then I explained that I like it when I can make that possible by doing a set, and I did a set. I didn’t destroy, but I’m not that worried about it. I didn’t do it to try and get booked, and just did it to do it, and thats what it should be all about.
I went down with Carlos Rodriguez who was also on the show. Afterwards we went to Golden Boy pizza and each ate 1.5 slices. Then I saw two of the most beautiful women I’ve ever seen in my life come in and sit next to me. Beauty isn’t everything though, so I just left.
