What went wrong?
So I went to the competition at the Boxing Donkey tonight. I lost. My set wasn’t that great. I had a couple of good hits, but the rest just wasn’t there. It was basically the equivalent of me bombing. What went wrong? I don’t know. I didn’t connect that good with the crowd I felt like. My jokes that can stand on their own did good, but the other ones I told only work when people enjoy listening to them being told, and I failed to create the right setting for that. I don’t know if it was because I drank some coffee before hand or what, but I just didn’t have it like I did last night. And then this dude from work came to watch the show. It was hard to tell him I’d been doing this for 7 years now. I wanted to say weeks. The truth is I didn’t even really want to win, I just wanted to do a set for a great crowd, but I didn’t want to do as badly as I did. Sam said I really had them going, in that way where you know it was the best thing he could think of to say. Sam’s a really nice guy. Basically, I don’t know exactly what went wrong, but I know that I don’t want to drink any more coffee before a set, and I wanna try to punch up a few jokes. I wanna find a cave to hide out in for the next few days if anyone knows where I can find one.
