Headlining

I got to headline the Punchline in Sacramento on August 13th. It was my birthday, but it was a coincidence that the show was that day too. It was pretty awesome. I did a real nice solid 45 minute set, and everyone seemed to have a great time. Thank you to my friend Robert Berry for setting it up, and to everyone that was a part of it, and to everyone that came to watch it.

Then a week later I went to the Sunday showcase at the SF Punchline. My friend Sammy Obeid suggested I go along. I hadn’t been in a while, but man was it depressing. I hardly knew anyone there. I forgot who I was. It was just bad. Well, I decided I was done with that, and it was time to move on, just like with some other things in my life right now. My friend Mary Van Note who runs the showcase now reminded me of how Brent Weinbach had succeeded by headlining his own shows and getting a following from that.

So, with that reminder, and the success of my recent headlining set, I decided to copy Brent! I set up a chance to headline a show in San Francisco this past Friday, and then did another in Sacramento last night. The Friday one I did had a nice crowd of maybe 20 people, but my set was weak. Last night’s set was way stronger, but the crowd was just comics and a couple of strangers, with not more than like 8 people all together. But hey, it’s a start!

I want to do at least one headline set in Sacramento, and one in San Francisco each month, and if I can get one in LA, thats a bonus. So stay tuned for updates. Should have a new dance video out next weekend too!
