Open Mics 10-24-2011

Tonight I went out to do some open mics. It was an interesting night. I heard some news about something that happened a few days ago and it has been upsetting me a little bit. A couple other comics wanted to hitch a ride. I was gonna do it, but then I didn’t feel like going out of my way, and they said they’d been drinking too. I dunno, I like them, but I didn’t see myself going out of my way to pick up some drunk people and drive them around. I don’t really like hanging out with drunk people that much. I kind of felt bad about it, but not that bad. From now on people have to meet at my place unless they live about as close to the freeway as I do. That’s my new rule Bill Maher.

Anyway, so I just went alone. I went to Po’ Boyz first. Mike E Winfield was there. He’s on The Office now. It was hard performing with him there because now he’s on there, and you know he’s watching. Plus the crowd was tired out, and I was looking around to see if anyone was at least smiling. I saw the teeth and thought maybe he liked the joke. So I start to laugh with him, but it was just the teeth showing. Oops. I kind of dragged out a couple jokes into nothing just for the heck of it, trying to underscore the point; why be here and listen to this shit when really you can’t wait to leave and go to sleep? I should have done it more. Push them to the edge.

Then I went to the Boxing Donkey after like usual. I got in there, made some coffee. Norm helped me fill the coffee container with water. I watched some sets before mine. Aaron Crouch had me cracking up pretty good, so I offered him a set on our Rejects show tomorrow. There’s a few people that crack me up, but even fewer still that can fit with the Rejects. Somehow I think he’s got the right style, personality, and look. I don’t know if he’ll be able to go, but I hope he can. I had a decent set. Tried to work on my love jokes some more. Seemed like people were into it. I drank too much coffee again though. I need to stop drinking that and switch back to tea. Coffee makes me too jittery and I can’t get grounded into my set as well.

We haven’t sold any tickets for the Rejects show tomorrow, but I hope that doesn’t mean there won’t be a crowd. I think it’s gonna be a really good show.
